So now, having reread the Blood-Brain Barrier entry, I am curious.

Do the other Presidium powers not have psychedesign, or is there something else that reassures the Worlds that they won’t use it in the way that the mad elves of the Empire would, post-conquest? Otherwise Alvis Antarianus’ suggestion that they try getting the waserai to take on the Iltine Union instead makes no sense.

(I think we can leave the Photonic Network out of consideration - while they would have a good grasp of the theory they wouldn’t have any interest in debugging meat.)

Well, the Echelons have access to the technology, but in practice have an earlier and less versatile form - mostly because they’re not terribly interested in it - and also have the advantage of not having an easily-inflamed reputation as terrifyin’ space wizards to deal with.

Will there be a book, at some point, about how this whole set of interlocking concerns and problems interacts with the fall of the Republic, and what the presidium powers of the Conclave feel obliged to do about the resulting warwilds?

(The “turn off the border stargates and leave them to chew each other to pieces” option has already been discussed elsewhere, I think? The conclusion seemed to be no.)
