# Aperture Linguistics

_ **asíran:** _ power; note: _not_ coercive power, the power of compulsion, which is _korás._ Rather, the ability and means to act upon the elements of the world towards a defined end. (See also [the kinds of power](https://eldraeverse.com/2019/03/08/and-yet-more/), here.)

**_daëlin:_** probability, chance.

**_asírdaël:_** (from _asíran_ + _daëlin_) opportunity; that is to say, a possibility (probability) which exists because of one’s possession of the power (agency) to take advantage of that possibility; that which can be realized through action.

**_íthal:_** object, thing.

**_asírdaëlíthal_:** (from _asírdael_ + _íthal_) an opportunity-object; an item created for no reason other than that one possessed the power to create it. The end product of such philosophies as “because it’s _there_“, “we do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard”, and “we do what we can, because we must”. Existence/possibility as imperative.

…so, at what point does Aperture Science is considered to have gone _too far_, even by the very liberal local standards?

Probably by the time they started deceiving test participants about the dangers involved and definitely by the time they forcibly uploaded someone to form the basis of an AI which they are very lucky decided to confine her killing/testing spree to the facility instead of the entire planet.
