# What are the other eldrae nations? \*Are\* there other eldrae nations?

So there’s the Empire of the Star. And there’s the Magen Corporate. Are there other notable Eldrae nations, or is there just a long tail of microstates?

After all, despite the position on secession² that amounts to “don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, you feckless pack of ingrates”, well…

…after all, large groups of people don’t just up and _leave_ Paradise³. And if they do⁴, that’s a clear sign that something has gone very wrong with the implementation of the Mandate, and something ought to be done to fix it. Having done so –

Notes:

1. When the author says “only”, she’s sneering at the notion of the Magen Corporate as a strictly _eldraeic_ colonial expedition - and the assorted outposts and cult colonies of her time barely counted as colonial expeditions at all.
2. Of course, if you go by the doctrine of the Ecumenical Throne, you can’t actually leave the Empire any more than you could actually leave Imperial China, but let’s skip lightly over that.
3. For one thing, it involves giving up a lot. The whole point of the Empire is that it is the _best_ sovereign services provider, and it’s gotten _very_ good at it. Think of all that _infrastructure!_
4. Unless, as in the case of the Magen Corporate, they’re obviously _assholes_. (In the technical sense, that is, meaning “obviously incompatible with Civilization”.)
