So is there stuff worth following on Bluesky? I’m aware of one such account, by a retired Australian general officer, who posts actual thoughts and opinions and observations. (It and the site’s CEO are the only things on my follow list there.)

Yes, if and only if you are prepared to wade through an infinite sea of sewage to get to it. (I’m by and large not, so don’t ask me for specifics, but I do see occasional quotations.)
I mean, it’s more polit-brained than Xitter, if you can believe that, albeit with the opposite flavor, and last I checked the general feed… well, there’s only so much amusement you can derive from watching the Juche stans, tankies, and old-school Maoists cancelling each other for being too right-wing and objectively pro-fascist. I’m not even on their conceptual map.
There’s plenty of creatives who have moved to Bluesky, so most of what I look at is artists or game devs that I know of through other sources. But that takes some careful curating.
