The First Distributed Exclavine Republic is a confederation of Imperial Exclaves whose confederate government happens to be First Distributed Exclavine Republic, ICC, which is both an Imperial Chartered Corporation and a constituent nation depending on how you look at it, and whose chairsoph is also a runér ranked as the equivalent of a sectarch, potentially to be promoted to a constellarch if the FDER keeps growing.
They’re in the franchise-nation business, their founder having noticed that a regular Exclave tended to do Very Good Business due to having such a favorable regime (see linked post) located where people would find one convenient to have.
And, y’know, if you don’t have a convenient exclave, there’s no rule saying you can’t make one and park it somewhere where lots of people will find it… convenient.
Wherever people cry out for free trade, free thought, and free beer, First Distributed will be there, driving local cracies into fits of tooth-grinding apoplexy.
It’s just good business.

Ah. So that’s what “our parent polity” means. Excellent. They’re going to have a lot of fun with the Spice Way. Or, in the nearer term, the borderlands with the Republic.
