Orphaned Contract

What would most Imperials think of Orphaned Contracts? That is, when someone is rendered permanently unable to carry out/fulfill their word, through no substantial fault of their own? On Earth, it would most likely be by death of one of the involved parties.

For instance:

“I’ll meet you here next Tuesday at noon.”

Gets hit by a bus in the interim, and dies.

No, really. It’s an imperfect universe (For. The. Moment.), and force majeure occasionally spoils the best-laid of plans. All you can do is unwind the incomplete transaction as best you can and in accordance with the principles of equity.
