Trope-a-Day: Shoulder Cannon

Shoulder Cannon: On most Imperial combat exoskeleton designs, this is where they fit the semi-autonomous point-defense weapons.  (Also, on whichever shoulder suits you, the brackets where you prop/clamp the rear end of the Really Big Guns.)  Backpack Cannons are usually more common (although still rare) for offensive weapons, since they tend to need less of a good view.

I am rather fond of the Schlock Mercenary power-armor pauldrones (spelling intentional): 2 autotargeting BFGs that normally sit on your shoulders. Until you fully release them into floating combat drones each with a single BFG to shoot with.

I was inspired to note the use of pauldrons on the N45 Garrex as hardpoints for drones or other weapons systems.

But on the M-70 Havoc or comparable heavy exoskeletons, the drones you might want to bring along are a little, ‘hem, big to perch comfortably on you…
