This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://eldraeverse.com/2024/10/30/status-of-tags-fixes

I think this might be a migration bug or this is just an old post with link rot - Trope-a-Day: Exploding Consoles has a dead image link.

Yeah, the migration has broken the old image links, so until I get around to doing the image/tag updates on things… bleh.

On the other hand (as you will all soon notice from reams of old posts popping up in the topic list), I just finished hacking together the comment-formatting code today, so doing the updates is back on the menu!

I’ll miss the timestamps… but I guess adding those as well could plausibly have been too complicated.

Is a properly-formatted correction to the comment listing on As We Wax Hot In Faction planned?

Can’t seem to find pingbacks currently, I assume they’re still in the works?

Huh. The timestamps are supposed to show up. Guess something must have slipped in one of the revisions. Expect them there in future.

In the sense that it’s on the list, maybe. In the sense that the list is ridiculously huge and includes over 2,000 more posts to process before any of them get revisited, not any time soon.

I have not yet considered pingbacks. (Especially since they won’t be a thing in the future, as current blog engines other than WordPress don’t appear to include pingback support.)

Okay, I found the timestamp thing.

It turns out I did remember to include it, and the problem is BBcode fuckery. All the information is actually there in the migrated-comments post - it’s just that since I formatted it originally as

“Foo <foo@bar.quux>, on 2020-10-24 11:31, wrote”

the BBcode parser amputates everything after the first comma.

I will decommunize de-comma-ize the format in the comment yeeter.

Have some more esklav, Alistair. And maybe a particularly high-test brandy…

There will be a temporary pause in updates while I spend Thanksgiving in Colorado. Normal function will be resumed when I get back (after the weekend).
